The full production of Reality Chokes directed by yours truly at Pentameters Theatre, Hampstead from Tuesday 13th May to Saturday 31st May was a real buzz. We got some great reviews but more importantly the whole experience reminded me why I went into the business in the first place. A great experience I wouldn't have missed for the world.

I directed a play reading at Pentameters in Hampstead, London, on Monday March 10th at 14.00. The play was Reality Chokes a black comedy about middle-aged punk rockers coming to terms with their mid-life crisis. It's written by David Schaal and Al Gregg and is hilarious. This reading led to the full production mentioned above.

At the beginning of September 2007 I finally did it and enrolled on an MA course in Philosophy at the Open University. It starts in February 2008 and will take 3 years! There's nothing in it for me except the joy of studying. I never thought those words would ever pass my lips but it just shows you - I'm really excited by this as much as anything else at the moment.

On 26th Sep 2007 Public Domain received the disappointing news that our application for the £200,000 to mount the multi-faith theatre project The Children Of Abraham, was not successful.
As no other funding is currently available I am sad to announce that the project has been cancelled for the foreseeable future. The letter from the Big Lottery Fund praised the quality of our application and the many qualities of the project. However they pointed out that there were only funds available to finance less than 23% of the applications they received.
For me personally developing this project was a fantastic experience and one I would not have missed. I learned a lot about the three Abrahamic faith communities in the W.Midlands and met many people of good will dedicated to reconciliation and peace. It was an honour to meet them all. In July 2007 I directed my first block of 'Doctors' for the BBC. The old BBC Pebble Mill Studios in Birmingham were very dear to me so I was delighted to finally get to direct a BBC Birmingham drama show. I enjoyed the experience very much and have been asked back so overall one couldn't ask for more.

At the end of June 2007 I was teaching for ten days on a film-makers summer school in Lithuania. What a great trip! Spent a couple of days sightseeing in Vilnius then up to the Baltic coast for the actual course. I met some lovely suicidal Finns and had a really fulfilling time. The gig came about because of my teaching at Thames Valley University.

I had a great time on the 19th Feb 2007 appearing as a pundit on Claire Fox News discussing the Jade Goody/Big Brother phenomena. The show is an internet broadcast on 18 Doughty Street .Com a political website with the tag line "politics for adults". It's actually run by a bunch of right wing neo-cons led by Iain Dale but they have a couple of token lefty shows like Claire Fox News and Talking With Tatchel an environmental show hosted by Peter Tatchel. It's worth taking a look at:

Claire Fox is the Director of The Institute Ideas, an organisation I have a lot of time for. Take a look at the website using the link below. Each year they organise the Battle Of Ideas a fabulous weekend of debate, politics and philosophy that I highly recommend.

From Feb - June 2007 I ventured into academia by becoming course tutor on the Writing For Television module of the MA in Screenwriting at Thames Valley University. Just a toe in the water at 3 hours a week but I have to say I really, really enjoyed it and will be looking to increase my activity in this area.

Just before Xmas 2006 Dudley Sutton got me roped into acting in a Russian film for a couple of days. The film, Season Of Fogs, written and directed by award winning Russian director Anna Tchernakova, was shooting in Moscow and Leicestershire. With a Russian speaking camera team and a truly international cast & crew it was a unique experience. Nice one Dudley!
